I. THE INTRODUCTION OF THE BOOK: VS 1-5

II. THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST: VS 6-10
A. This is the demand of the gospel of Christ. v 6

B. These are the reasons for the gospel of Christ. v 6
1. The law of Moses was superseded by the gospel of Christ. John 1:17

4. The law of Moses could not justify a person from his sins. Gal.

B. These are the reasons for that certified gospel. vs 13-16

C. These were the acceptances of that certified gospel. vs 17-19
1. When Paul was converted, he went to Arabia so that he could mediate

2. It was three years before Paul went up to Jerusalem. vs 18-19
a). When Paul was at Jerusalem, he only stayed fifteen days with Peter.

b). When Paul was at Jerusalem, he only saw two apostles who were

CHAPTER 2
I. PAUL DEFENDED HIS APOSTLESHIP: VS 1-10
A. These were the ways by which Paul defended his apostleship. vs
1-3
1. Paul after fourteen years returned to Jerusalem by revelation.
vs 1-2
2. Titus, who was a Greek, was not forced to be circumcised because
the law of Moses had been fulfilled. v 3, Luke 24:44-48, Col. 2:14
B. These were the reasons why Paul defended his apostleship. vs 4-6
1. False teachers among the Jewish people began to teach that a person
had to be circumcised and keep the law of Moses so that he could be saved.
v 4, Acts 15:5
2. This matter was settled in a discussion at Jerusalem. vs 5-6, Acts
15:19- 21
3. This revealed that Paul was an apostle of Christ because he was
to carry this news to the Gentiles. Acts 15:22-30
C. These were the verifications that Paul proved his apostleship.
vs 7-10
1. Paul had proven his apostleship because he would be an apostle
unto the Gentiles. vs 7-9
2. Paul had defended his apostleship because it was requested that
he should remember the poor which Paul did. v 10, Acts 11:29-30, Romans
15:26, 1 Cor. 16:1-2
II. PAUL PROVED HIS APOSTLESHIP: VS 11-21
A. This was the way by which Paul proved his apostleship. vs 11-14
(Paul rebuked Peter because Peter was at fault.)
B. These are the reasons why Paul proved his apostleship. vs 16-21
1. Christians are justified by faith in Christ. vs 16-19, Gal. 5:6
2. Saints are crucified with Christ. v 20, Col. 3:1-4
3. Disciples are righteous in Christ. v 21, 2 Cor. 5:17, Col. 3:11
CHAPTER 3
I. THE GALATIANS BEING DECEIVED: VS 1-5
A. These were the reasons for the Galatians being deceived. v 1
1. The Galatians had been deceived by false teachers. v 1, 2 Cor.
11:14-15
2. The Galatians did not believe in the crucified Christ. v 2, 1 Cor.
15:1-4
B. These were the ways by which the Galatians were deceived. v 2
1. The Galatians had not received the Holy Spirit through the law
of Moses. v 2, Col. 2:14, Acts 2:38
2. The Galatians had received the Holy Spirit through the law of Christ.
v 2, Acts 2:38, Eph. 1:13-14
C. These were the rebuke for those deceived Galatians. v 3
1. The Galatians had begun in the Spirit to serve the living God.
v 3, Eph. 1:3
2. The Galatians could not be make perfect in the flesh by keeping
the law of Moses. v 3, Romans 8:6-8
D. This was the folly of those deceived Galatians. v 4
1. If those Galatians had continued trying to serve God under the
law of Moses, it would have been in vain. John 1:17
2. If Christians try to serve God under the law of Moses, it would
be in vain for them. Romans 10:1-3
E. These are the proofs that the Galatians were deceived. v 5
1. Paul did not work miracles among them by the law of Moses. v 5,

II. THE JUSTIFICATION OF ABRAHAM: VS 6-9
A. This was the manner in which Abraham was justified. v 6
1. Abraham was justified by a working faith in the living God. v 6,

2. Christians are justified by a working faith in the gospel system.
Romans 1:16-18
B. This was the blessing of Abraham's justification. v 7
1. Saints are the promised children of Abraham. Gen. 12:1-3
2. Christians are the children of Abraham because we are new creatures
in Christ. v 7, Gal. 3:29, 2 Cor. 5:17
C. This was the proof of Abraham's justification. vs 8-9
1. The gospel of Christ was preached unto Abraham in a promise. v

2. The gospel of Christ is preached unto us as being a fact because
we who are Christians are the children of Abraham. v 9, 1 Cor. 15:1-4
III. BEING JUSTIFIED: VS 10-14
A. These are the reasons why we are justified. v 10
1. Christians are not under the curse of the law of Moses. v 10, Acts

2. Disciples are receiving the spiritual blessings of Christ. v 10,

B. These are the blessings of our justification. v 11
1. Christians are not justified by the law of Moses. v 11, Gal. 3:27,

2. Disciples are justified by their faith in the gospel system. v

C. These are the assurances for our justification. vs 13-14
1. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law of Moses. v 13,

2. Christians are the children of Abraham because they have received
the promise of the Holy Spirit by their obedient faith to the gospel system.

IV. THE GOSPEL BEING CONFIRMED TO ABRAHAM: VS 15-18
A. These are the blessings of that covenant. v 15
1. Man should not break a man's covenant. v 15, 2 Tim. 3:3
2. Man must not break a Divine Covenant. Heb. 8:6-13, 1 John 3:4
B. These are the purposes of that covenant. v 16
1. Jesus Christ would be born of the seed of Abraham. v 16, Romans
1:1-4
2. Jesus Christ would bless all the people of the earth. v 16, 2 Cor.
5:17
C. These are the characteristics of that covenant. v 17
1. The giving of the law of Moses (430 years later) did not annul
the covenant previously established by God to Abraham. v 18
2. The giving of the law of Christ did fulfill all the promises which
God had made to Abraham. v 17, Luke 24:44-48
D. These are the results of that covenant. v 18
1. Our inheritance does not come from the law of Moses. v 18
2. Our inheritance does come from the laws of Christ. 1 Peter 3:1-5
V. THE LAW OF MOSES: VS 19-25
A. These were the reasons why the law of Moses was given. vs 19-20
1. The law of Moses was given because of transgressions. v 19
2. The law of Moses was a covenant between God and Israel. v 20
B. These were the traits of the law of Moses. vs 21-23
1. The law of Moses could not forgive a person of his sins. v 21
2. The law of Moses keep the Israelites under the bondage of sin until
Christ could come into the world. vs 22-23
C. These were the purposes of the law of Moses. vs 24-25
1. The law of Moses was a school master which pointed the people to
Christ. v 24, Deut. 18:18-19
2. The law of Moses has been fulfilled because the school master is
invalid. v 25, Col. 2:14
VI. THE CHILDREN OF GOD: VS 26-27
A. This is the reason why Christians are the children of God. v 26
(Christians are the children of God by regeneration.) v 26, 2 Cor. 5:17
B. These are the verifications that Christians are the children of
God. v 27
1. We as alien sinners have been baptized into Christ so that we could
put on Christ. v 27, Mark 16:16, Col. 3:11
2. We as alien sinners have been baptized into Christ for the remission
of our sins. Acts 2:38
3. We as alien sinners have been baptized into Christ by being baptized
in the name (the authority) of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

C. These are the blessings for being the children of God. v 28
1. In Christ, all Christians are equal because God is no respecter
of persons. v 28, Acts 10:34-35
2. In Christ, all saints are equal because Christ is no respecter
of persons. James 2:1-4
3. In Christ, all disciples are equal because disciples must not become
a respecter of persons. James 2:9
D. These are the results of being the children of God. v 29
1. Christians are the seed of Abraham by promise. v 29, Gen. 12:2-3
2. Disciples are the heirs of God according to His promises. v 29,
Romans 8:14-17
CHAPTER 4
I. THE TRUE SONS OF GOD: VS 1-11
A. These are the reasons why Christians are the true sons of God.
vs 1-5
1. The law of Moses could not make those Israelites to be the true
sons of God because they were in the bondage of sin. vs 1-3, Romans 5:12
2. The law of Christ makes all faithful Christians to be the true
sons of God because Christ came into the world to redeem them from the
bondage of sin. vs 4-5, Romans 8:1
B. These are the blessings for being the true sons of God. vs 6-7
1. Christians have the Spirit of God dwelling in them because they
have obeyed the gospel of Christ. v 6, Acts 2:38, Eph. 1:13-14, 1 Cor.
3:16-17
2. Disciples are the heirs of God because they have accepted the terms
of the gospel. v 7, Romans 8:14-17
C. These are the requirements for being the true sons of God. vs 8-11
1. Disciples should not return unto the bondage of sin because they
were in the bondage of sin before they became a New Testament Christian.
vs 8-9, 1 Peter 4:1-4
2. Christians should not develop formalism in their religion because
they must not worship God according to the commandments of men. vs 10-11,
Matt. 15:8-9, Jude 3-4
II. FOLLOWING THE EXAMPLES OF PAUL: VS 12-20
A. This was the admonition from Paul for the Galatians to follow his
examples. v 12
1. Paul wanted the Galatians to become like him because Paul had given
up the law of Moses so that he could follow Christ. v 12, Phil. 3:5-14
2. Christians should follow the good examples of Paul because he followed
Christ. 1 Cor. 11:1, Gal. 2:20
B. These are the reasons why Paul wanted the Galatians to follow his
examples. vs 13-16
1. Paul wanted the Galatians to remember his infirmities in the flesh.
v 13, 2 Cor. 2:3
2. Paul was hoping that the Galatians would recall his temptations
in the flesh. v 14, James 1:2-4
3. Paul wanted the Galatians to remember the love which they had shown
for him. v 15, Rev. 2:4
4. Paul was hoping that the Galatians would follow the truth because
he was telling them the truth. v 16, John 8:31-32
C. These would be the motivations for the Galatians to follow the
examples of Paul. vs 16-20
1. If the Galatians were to follow false teachers, they would use
them in the wrong way because those false teachers were following the doctrines
of men. vs 16-18, Romans 10:1-3, 2 Peter 2:3
2. If the Galatians were to follow the teachings of Paul, he would
lead them in the right way because Paul was following Christ. vs 19-20,
2 Tim. 4:6- 8
III. AN ALLEGORY OF HAGAR AND SARAH: VS 21-31
A. This was the admonition for the Galatians to hear that allegory.
v 21 (If you: Galatians wish to be under the law of Moses, then you should
listen to the law.)
B. These were the characteristics of that allegory. vs 22-27
1. Abraham had two sons. vs 22-23
a). One son was by a handmaid: Hagar. Gen. 16:15
b). One son was by a free woman: Sarah. Gen. 12:2
2. These two women represented two covenants. vs 24-25
a). One covenant originated from Mount Sinai which was where the law
of Moses was given and this covenant bears children who are in the bondage
of sin because this covenant would be Hagar.
b). The other covenant originated from Mount Zion (Jerusalem) which
was where the gospel of Christ was first preached and this covenant bears
children who are free from the bondage of sin because this covenant would
be Sarah. vs 26-27, Isa. 2:2-3, Heb. 12:22, Rev.3:12
C. These are the reasons for that allegory. vs 28-29
1. Christians are like Isaac because they are the children of promises.
v 28, Romans 9:8
2. Those disciples, who were at Galatia, were being persecuted by
the fleshly Jews because Ishmael persecuted Isaac. v 29, Gen. 21:6-11
D. This was the results of that allegory. vs 30-31
1. The fleshly Jews must be rejected as being true Christians because
they are of the bond woman. v 30, Gen. 21:10-12
2. Christians must be accepted as being the true sons of God because
they are the children of promises. v 31, Gal. 3:26-29, John 8:36
CHAPTER 5
I. BEING STEADFAST IN THE GOSPEL SYSTEM: VS 1-10
A. These are the reasons why Christians should be steadfast in the
gospel system. vs 1-6
1. Christians must not become entangled in the law of Moses because
this law would be a yoke of bondage upon them. v 1, Acts 15:10
2. Disciples should not be religiously circumcised because Christ
would profit them nothing. v 2, Romans 2:28-29
3. If saints should try to keep the law of Moses, they would fall
from the grace of God. v 3, John 1:17
4. Our faith in Christ must work by love. v 6, 1 Cor. 13:4-8
B. These are the blessings for being steadfast in the gospel system.
vs 7-10
1. Christians can overcome their hindrances. v 7, Romans 8:37, Phil.
4:13
2. Brethren can overcome false doctrines. v 8, 1 John 4:1
3. Disciples can overcome evil influences. v 9, Heb. 13:5-6
4. Saints can overcome their persecutions. v 10, Matt. 5:11-12
II. THESE ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR OUR LIBERTY: VS 11-15
A. Christians must preach the gospel of Christ because the gospel
of Christ has superseded the law of Moses. v 11, Col. 2:14, Luke 24:44-48
B. Member of the church can overcome false teachers. v 12, 2 John
9-11
C. Disciples should serve one another with love. v 13, 1 John 3:14-15
D. Saints can fulfill the law of God. v 14, James 2:10-13
E. Brethren must not devour one another. v 15, 1 Cor. 3:3
III. THE WORKS OF THE FLESH: VS 16-21
A. These are the ways to overcome the works of the flesh. vs 16-17
1. Christians can overcome the works of the flesh by walking in the
Spirit. v 16, Col. 3:1-4
2. Disciples can overcome the works of the flesh by fighting a Spiritual
warfare against the forces of evil. v 17, Eph. 6:10-13
B. These are the mandates for overcoming the works of the flesh. v
18
1. Christians must be led by the Spirit of God. v 18, Romans 8:14-17
2. Saints should not grieve the Spirit of God. Eph. 4:30
C. These are the deeds which would manifest the works of the flesh.
vs 19-21
1. Adultery is a work of the flesh. v 19, 2 Peter 2:14
2. Fornication is a deed of the flesh. v 19, 1 Thess. 4:3
3. Uncleanness is an activity of the flesh. v 19, Romans 1:24
4. Lasciviousness is a labor of the flesh. v 19, Jude 3-4
5. Idolatry is a performance of the flesh. v 20, Col. 3:5
6. Witchcraft is an execution of the flesh. v 20, Acts 8:9-11
7. Hatred is a work of the flesh. v 20, 1 John 3:15
8. Variance is a deed of the flesh. v 20, Matt. 10:35
9. Emulation would be a performance of the flesh. v 20, Romans 11:14
10. Wrath is an activity of the flesh. v 20, Eph. 4:26
11. Strife is an execution of the flesh. v 20, Prov. 28:25
12. Sedition would be a labor of the flesh. v 20, Acts 24:5
13. Heresies are an act of the flesh. v 20, 1 Cor. 1:10
14. Envying would be a toil of the flesh. v 21, James 3:16
15. Murders would be a deed of the flesh. v 21, Acts 7:58
16. Drunkenness is a performance of the flesh. v 21, Prov. 20:1
17. Reveling would be an activity of the flesh. v 21, 1 Peter 4:3
D. These are the results of the works of the flesh. v 21
1. The persons who do those deeds shall not inherit the Kingdom of
God. v 21, Romans 14:17
2. The persons who commit those acts will be eternally punished. 2
Thess. 1:7-9
IV. THE FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT: VS 21-26
A. These are the acts which constitute the fruits of the Spirit. vs
22-23
1. Love is the greatest demonstration of spiritual fruit. v 22, Eph.
5:2
2. Joy is the greatest expression of spiritual fruit. v 22, Phil.
4:4
3. Peace is the greatest manifestation of spiritual fruit. v 22, John
16:13
4. Longsuffering is the greatest display of spiritual fruit. v 22,
James 5:11
5. Goodness is the greatest proof of spiritual fruit. v 22, 1 Thess
2:7
6. Gentleness is the greatest showing of spiritual fruit. v 22, Gal.
6:10
7. Faith (faithfulness) is the greatest disclosure of spiritual fruit.
v 22, Rev. 2:10
8. Meekness is the greatest indication of spiritual fruit. v 23, 2
Tim. 2:25
9. Temperance is the greatest control of spiritual fruit. v 23, 1
Cor. 9:27
B. These are the requirements for producing the fruits of the Spirit.
vs 24-26
1. Christians must crucify the unlawful desires of the flesh. v 24,
Gal. 2:20
2. Saints need to walk in the Spirit. v 25, Romans 8:14-17
3. Disciples should not become vain glorious by seeking the things
of the world. v 26, 1 John 2:15-17
CHAPTER 6
I. HELPING THOSE PERSONS WHO ARE WEAK IN THE FAITH: VS 1- 5
A. These are the mandates for helping those persons who are weak.
v 1
1. Disciples should try to restore those persons who have fallen from
the grace of God. v 1, James 5:19-20
2. A Christian must consider himself because he can fall from the
grace of God. v 1, 1 Cor. 10:13
B. These are the reasons for helping those persons who are weak. vs
2-3
1. Saints can fulfill the law of God. v 2, James 2:10-13
2. A Christian should not think that he is greater than any other
person. v 3, Romans 12:3, James 2:9
C. These would be the results of helping those persons who are weak.
vs 4-5
1. The Christian would be proving his own works. v 4, 2 Cor. 13:5
2. The disciple would be bearing his own burden with the Lord's help.
v 5, Heb. 13:5-6
II. HELPING THOSE PERSONS WHO ARE IN FINANCIAL NEED: VS 6- 10
A. These are the requirements for helping the needy persons. v 6
1. Christians must financially support their ministers. v 6, Romans
12:14
2. The preacher is worthy of his wages. v 6, 1 Cor. 8:7-14
B. These are the reasons why Christians are to help the needy persons.
vs 7-8
1. We reap that which we sow in a physical and in a spiritual way.
v 7
a). If a sinner sows to the flesh, that sinner will of the flesh reap
corruption. v 8, Romans 6:23
b). If a Christian sows to the Spirit, that Christian will of the
Spirit reap everlasting life. v 8, Romans 2:7
2. We reap that which we sow in a financial way. Luke 6:38
a). If a disciple give sparingly, that disciple shall reap sparingly.
2 Cor. 9:6-8
b). If a Christian give bountifully, that Christian shall also reap
bountifully. Mal. 3:8-10
C. These are the blessings for helping the needy persons. vs 9-10
1. The Christian will reap his reward in due time. v 9, Matt. 10:42
2. If is a blessing to help other people in their needs. v 10, Acts
20:35
III. PAUL'S EXHORTATION TO THE GALATIANS: VS 11-17
A. This was Paul personal exhortation to the Galatians. v 11 (Paul
wrote this letter himself.)
B. These were the characteristics of his exhortation. vs 12-13
1. Those Jewish teachers want you to be circumcised so that they themselves
can escape from their persecutions for the cause of Christ. v 12, 2 Tim.
3:12
2. Those Jewish teachers desire that you should be circumcised so
that you could keep the law of Moses, but those false teachers can not
keep the law of Moses themselves because it a yoke of bondage. v 13, Acts
15:10
C. These were the reasons for his admonition. vs 14-15
1. Paul glorified Christ because he was a new creature in Christ.
v 14, Phil. 1:21-24
2. Paul glorified Christ because he was crucified with Christ. v 14,
Gal. 2:20
a). If we are a new creature in Christ, being circumcised or being
uncircumcised does not really mean anything. v 15, Romans 2:29
b). If we are a new creature in Christ, this would mean everything
because we would be reconciled unto our God. v 15, 2 Cor. 5:17-21
D. These are the blessings of his admonition. v 16
1. Paul wanted peace for those persons who would walk according to
this rule. v 16, Phil. 4:6
2. Paul desired mercy for those persons who would walk according to
this rule. v 16, Heb. 8:12
E. This was the purpose of his exhortations. v 17 (Paul did not want
to encounter any more false teachers because he had been beaten may times
for the Lord.) 1 Cor. 11:21-28
V. PAUL SALUTATION TO THE GALATIANS: V 18 (Paul wanted grace to be with
their spirits.)
