Affected Teaching
Here is a very subtle change which can be passed over without notice. If you will notice in the Modern Literal Version & King James, the Lord tells the disciples that because of their unbelief they could not cast out the demon from the boy. There is a great difference between none and little. Now here is a confusing scenario that appears in this verse in the minority text versions. Jesus accuses the disciples of having little faith but then goes on to say that if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, then you can move mountains. He just got done telling them they have little faith and then tells them if they have small faith like a mustard seed. Well dont they already possess the small faith needed to move mountains? In the Majority Text & T.R. Bible translations, Jesus is telling them they have no faith and if they had faith the size of a mustard seed, they could move mountains. Which scenario removes the confusion? It is the MLV & King James because the faith goes from unbelief (no faith) to small faith which shows a progression in their faith. The minority text versions go from little faith to small faith, well which direction is the progression of faith? I dont know! Once again the Majority text & T.R. versions removes the confusion and shows a proper growth in faith from none to little.
